For those in need of some entertainment tonight…

Summer Jam starts now! I’ve never been or seen the live stream, so I’m sure I will have some thoughts to share. Check out the live stream below.

As someone in the nonprofit realm AND a Beyonce stan fan, I am surprised I found out about the concert so late. I need to do my research…

Yesterday Beyonce headlined the Sound of Change charity concert in support of Gucci’s Chime for Change organization.  Chime for Change promotes education, health and justice for women and girls around the world. As a member of the founding committee, you know Beyonce had to make an appearance and shut it down.  I decided not to watch any of the videos that have surfaced, but I will definitely tune in tonight.

Check out the concert at 9pm ET on NBC.

J Music: Thoughts While I’ve Been Away…

I want to love Sevyn. Talented writer. Singer and dancer. Signed to CBE.

Love: Her new single “It Won’t Stop.” Great follow-up to “I Like It,” and confirmed my interest in her album.

Hate Strongly Dislike: Last month I searched for far too long to find a live performance I thought was good enough to post on my site (I didn’t find one). Having seen her as a member of RichGirl, I expected her live performance to be much tighter, vocally, than what I found.

One item off my summer bucket list: Diamonds World Tour at the Barclays Center

Love: We can all agree the vocals from the 777 direct feed were a bit crazy, nonetheless Rih sounded good and performed a great set including almost all her tracks from Unapologetic. Though she stuck mostly to gyrating, I appreciated her attempts at dancing.

Hate Strongly Dislike: I was really unimpressed by the set design and most of the outfits for Rihanna and her dancers.  You could definitely tell they made serious budget cuts after she lost money on the Last Girl on Earth tour (definitely better overall production). Womp.

Not that I feed into the whole Illuminati thing, but why is Givenchy so popular? Most of the stuff I see looks like fashion folks would wear in hell. Just sayin’….

J Music: Yahoo! On the Road

On Friday, John Legend kicked off the Yahoo! On the Road tour with the Salomé Chamber Orchestra and Ryan Leslie live from the United Palace Theatre in New York City.  I only caught the end of the performance, but the live-stream quality was fantastic.

Yahoo! On the Road is a summer concert series featuring Kendrick Lamar, Macklemore, fun., Fall Out Boy and more. Tickets to the show are free, but assuming you are like me and missed the only show in your area, you can also watch via live stream. Visit the Yahoo! On the Road website for the tour schedule and more info.

J Music: “Lose to Win” – Fantasia Live on American Idol

If you can acknowledge someone’s faults you should also be able to cheer on his or her success.  I have never been the biggest fan of Fantasia and I was extremely disappointed in some of her professional and personal choices (i.e. performance etiquette, fashion, financial management and of course Antwaun) that led to the deterioration of her brand.

Before the release of her fourth album Side Effects of You, I heard the single “Lose to Win” and was unmoved, but her performance on American Idol definitely changed my mind. She slayed that performance!! (I may or may not have had a tear in my eye…)

The same song I had overlooked the week before, I was singing the whole next day.

While I was sleeping on her, Fantasia was busy getting her mind, body, brand and music in order.  I finally got a chance to hear the full album today, and it is definitely worth a listen.  Go Tasia!

Favorite Song: Without Me – Fantasia Ft. Kelly Rowland & Missy Elliot (including the “Girl Talk” interlude)
